This is the time of year when newspapers and magazines all publish their "best buy" guides. You know the sort of thing. Aldi gets five stars for their beef Wellington while the Waitrose mince pies get slated and all of middle England goes into shock. It's an easy way for editors to fill their pages at a time when journalists are putting in their holiday requests and there's not much proper news anyway.
With that in mind, I thought you might appreciate a seasonal taste test for exercise offerings this Christmas...
Going to the gym (*)
Unsubtle. Often leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.
Jogging (*)
Cold and soggy. Frequently frozen.
Yoga (**)
Initial promise let down by the unmistakable tang of mung beans.
Pilates at a studio (***)
Not bad, but what's that racket those people next door are making?
Pilates online (*****)
Fresh, nourishing and delicious. Best served with a warm welcome and dry wit. Perfect for the Christmas and New Year period, leaving you satisfied and better prepared to face the festivities.
