What is a Pilates equipment class?
Pilates equipment classes usually take place within a specialised Pilates studio, using custom-designed equipment. The equipment differs from that found in a typical gym in that it is designed to either add challenge or to assist in performing Pilates exercises and is thus suitable for a wide range of people.
Pilates equipment uses springs rather than weights, as these tend to be more supportive and versatile in use, encouraging the lengthening of muscles rather than building bulk. Equipment classes are either one-to-one or in small groups. The exercises are specific to the needs of the individual client and will vary from session to session, with each person doing different exercises. That way, each client can progress at their own pace and work on the areas of most relevance to themselves. Equipment sessions are therefore highly recommended for anyone wanting to work on specific issues, rehabilitate from injury or receive individual guidance. |

How do I book an equipment class?
To book an equipment class at any of the above times, please contact the studio directly (you can click the links to their websites, above). Prices are set by the individual studios. One-off classes are available, though discounts are offered if purchasing a block of classes. Please note that none of these are drop-in sessions. Your class must be booked with the studio in advance.
Most studios encourage new clients with no prior experience of Pilates to take at least one initial one-to-one class first, before joining a group class. This allows time for a thorough assessment and introduction to the Pilates technique and equipment.
I can also be booked for private (one-to-one) equipment classes at other times in some locations. See the Private Classes page or say hello via the Contact page if you would like more information or advice about classes.
